Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist at CDL Human Resource is responsible for managing a wide range of HR functions to support business units and enhance organizational effectiveness. The role encompasses recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, and culture building. The successful candidate will act as a consultant to management on HR issues, ensuring compliance with Kenyan labor laws while driving initiatives that promote a positive work environment and employee retention.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Conduct interviews for business unit positions, provide referrals to hiring managers, and ensure efficient turnaround times.
Assist hiring managers in drafting job profiles and developing comprehensive job descriptions.
Oversee the onboarding process to ensure new hires understand the company's vision, mission, values, policies, and operations.
Educate employees regarding their rights, responsibilities, and the corporate code of conduct.
Performance Improvement
Regularly review and update job descriptions to reflect current roles.
Identify performance trends and recommend solutions for development and retention.
Facilitate the feedback process (Connect for Growth) and support line managers in implementing performance appraisal systems.
Learning & Development
Lead orientation sessions and onboarding training for new staff.
Coordinate learning programs and maintain accessible documentation of all training activities.
Support the implementation of the people development strategy and monitor training effectiveness.
Maintain accurate employee training records.
Employee Relations
Advise employees and management on relations issues to improve morale and productivity.
Manage staff grievances and disciplinary processes in accordance with policies and legal requirements, ensuring full confidentiality.
Coordinate investigations into complaints and maintain sensitive records.
Culture & Stakeholder Management
Champion organizational behaviors and support initiatives that drive engagement and innovation.
Coach leaders on promoting teamwork and open communication.
Maintain strong working relationships with Senior Management and stay current with HR industry trends.
Drive collaboration through staff culture initiatives.
Project Management & Reporting
Contribute to company-wide projects and create tools to improve HR departmental effectiveness.
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly performance reports, including absenteeism analysis.
Partner with HR peers to analyze metrics and develop evidence-based policies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
5–8 years of experience in HR Management or Administration within a recognized organization.
Preference for candidates with experience in the Fashion & Apparel, Retail, or Manufacturing industries.
Comprehensive knowledge of Kenyan Labour Laws and the Employment Act, 2007.
Active membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., IHRM) with good standing.
High level of technical proficiency (tech-savvy).
