The Graduate Traineeship at Inkomoko is a strategic entry point for emerging professionals to drive measurable impact within refugee and host communities. Trainees work directly with entrepreneurs across Inkomoko’s communities, contributing to the growth of micro and small enterprises and strengthening local economic ecosystems in Kenya. This traineeship provides structured, hands-on exposure across both program implementation and core support functions, equipping participants with strong technical skills, operational insight, and cross-functional experience.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Program; Business Growth Services Department
The Department works directly with communities by supporting micro and small entrepreneurs to develop skills and access resources. In this department, you will:
Develop a practical understanding of Inkomoko’s business growth model through entrepreneur mobilization and onboarding.
Strengthen client-facing skills by supporting entrepreneurs in identifying market opportunities and new revenue streams.
Assist in workshop coordination, facilitation, and follow-up with entrepreneurs.
Conduct field-based business performance monitoring through data collection and financial review.
Support market-linkage strategies by connecting entrepreneurs to buyers and suppliers.
Collaborate with Finance, Investment, MERL, and Communication teams for smooth implementation.
2. Operations and Security Department
Based in Nairobi, this department focuses on organizational efficiency. In this department, you will:
Align administrative support with organizational objectives.
Strengthen knowledge of procurement and purchasing frameworks to ensure compliance.
Assist in designing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Support administrative and operational systems to optimize costs and efficiency.
3. People & Culture Department
Based in Nairobi, this department oversees the full employee lifecycle. In this department, you will:
Gain comprehensive hands-on experience in HR management.
Develop an understanding of key employee experiences and culture strategy.
Utilize HR Data Analytics to impact the organization.

Requirements
Education: Must have graduated within the past year or be currently awaiting graduation with a bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Previous experience in an internship or graduate traineeship capacity.
Traits: Highly energetic, comfortable in the field, and a self-starter who can learn on the fly.
Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Excel and Word.
Communication: Good written and oral communication skills.
