The role of an Employee Relations Associate focuses on fostering a constructive and cooperative relationship between the organization and its workforce, specifically concerning labor legislation, union interactions, and workplace policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate internal disciplinary hearings, ensuring that all parties comply with company policies and procedures.
- Represent the Company in labor court, providing effective defense.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the internal Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Unions to promote a balanced employee-employer relationship.
- Ensure that all employees’ records are accurately filed and kept current, both in personal files and in SAPHR.
- Aid in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of policies and procedures related to industrial relations, advising line managers to ensure consistent application.
- Lead initiatives to develop and implement employee engagement strategies aimed at enhancing the workplace environment.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate must possess:
- A university degree in Law along with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice or an LL.M. or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in handling industrial relations.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Swahili.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Well-versed in Tanzanian labor laws, with a proven track record in facilitating disciplinary hearings, representing the company at the CMA, and engaging in Collective Bargaining Agreements.
