Role Overview
Meliore Foundation is looking for a Senior Steel Analyst to help put just, inclusive, and equitable solutions to global issues at the core of the world’s political, social, environmental, and economic discourse. The Meliore Foundation provides operational support and regranting funding for aligned programmes engaged in strategic communications and campaigns.
The Senior Steel Analyst will work with the ARIA manager with oversight of the steel sector, the Steel Analyst, and two investigators working on steel-related topics to drive research and strategy regarding industrial decarbonization and climate change.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Monitoring & Intelligence: Monitor steel industry decarbonisation trends and the news cycle, including attending conferences to produce insights and intelligence.
Research & Analysis: Work with the ARIA steel team to produce high-quality research and analysis of the steel sector as they relate to climate change and decarbonisation.
Strategic Briefing: Compile credible, concise briefings for a range of audiences working to shape debates and narratives relating to the decarbonisation of the steel sector, including its interaction with the energy sector and power sources such as coal.
Editorial Oversight: Oversee written work produced by ARIA’s Steel Analyst and edit documents as required.
Stakeholder Engagement: Develop, maintain, and collaborate closely with a network of partners, sources, and contacts to share intelligence, and develop and inform strategy in this area.
Collaboration: Coordinate closely with coalitions of partners and allies to deliver shared objectives.
Strategy Implementation: Develop, implement, review, and evaluate ARIA's strategy and interventions in the steel sector.
Operating Model Evolution: Contribute to the development of ARIA's broader strategy, processes, and the evolution of our operating model, including harnessing the potential of AI in building our research and intelligence.
Team Management: Coordinate and oversee the work of a small team of analysts and investigators working on steel decarbonisation, including research and investigative projects, and line manage the Steel Analyst.
Requirements and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will possess the following qualities:
Educational Background: A degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field.
Campaign Expertise: Experience in running or overseeing effective campaigns aimed at changing corporate or public behaviour, or government regulation.
Impactful Research: Experience using research, investigations, and media to effect change.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor communications to different audiences.
Networking: Strong networking skills and experience collaborating with partner organisations and operating in networks.
Language Fluency: Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to produce clear, well-sourced, and accurate briefings and summaries, or news articles.
Project Management: Good organisational and project management skills, including experience managing a small budget.
