Narok County Government is seeking to recruit a Senior Engineer (Irrigation and Drainage). This role involves supervising the development and maintenance of irrigation and drainage infrastructure, ensuring quality control, and managing auxiliary facilities within the county. The officer will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies and ensuring the implementation of safety and risk management plans for water harvesting and storage infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervising the development and maintenance of irrigation and drainage infrastructure and auxiliary facilities.
Carrying out feasibility studies and environmental and social impact assessments to determine project viability.
Developing and implementing quality control, safety, and risk management plans for irrigation, drainage, and water harvesting/storage infrastructure.
Preparing draft designs for irrigation schemes and water harvesting structures for technical approval.
Preparing tender documents for irrigation infrastructure development and maintenance projects.
Training and sensitizing stakeholders on irrigation technologies and environmental management.
Compiling data on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of irrigation development.
Preparing operation and maintenance schedules for irrigation and drainage infrastructure.
Developing manuals for green energy and energy-saving irrigation technologies.
Compiling and analyzing research data and updating infrastructure inventory.
Preparing comprehensive progress reports for engineering projects.
Requirements for Appointment
Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience, with at least three (3) years in the grade of Engineer 1 (Irrigation and Drainage) or an equivalent position.
Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering, or equivalent.
Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) as a Graduate Engineer.
Completion of a Management Course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
