This is an entry and training grade within the Engineering Technologist cadre. Officers at this level work under the guidance and supervision of senior staff. The role focuses on the development, planning, and management of irrigation infrastructure to support the agricultural sector in Narok County.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inspecting the development of irrigation infrastructure to ensure quality and compliance.
Collecting baseline data necessary for effective irrigation planning.
Organizing and facilitating farmers' meetings to encourage participatory irrigation development.
Providing training to irrigation farmers on sustainable scheme management and resource mobilization.
Identifying and establishing sites for irrigation technology demonstration plots.
Identifying potential irrigation schemes for future development.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this position, a candidate must possess:
A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Agricultural Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Processing and Structures, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
OR a Technician Part III Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Agricultural Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Processing and Structures, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A Certificate in computer application skills.
Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
Remuneration
Salary Scale: Ksh. 28,620 – 37,100 per month (plus applicable increments and allowances as per the county scale).
