This is an entry and training grade for the Irrigation Engineering cadre within the Narok County Public Service. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer to facilitate the development and maintenance of irrigation schemes across the county. The role involves technical data collection, community engagement, and infrastructure oversight.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collecting and compiling essential data required for irrigation scheme planning and design.
Mobilizing farmers for participatory irrigation development to ensure community ownership and sustainability.
Setting up demonstration plots to showcase efficient irrigation techniques and technologies.
Identifying potential sites and existing irrigation schemes suitable for further development.
Implementing irrigation action plans in accordance with departmental goals.
Carrying out routine repairs and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency.
Undertaking preliminary investigations and feasibility studies for new irrigation scheme development projects.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural and Bio Systems Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Soil Water and Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
