The Secretary of the Nyamira County Public Service Board is responsible for the administrative and secretarial functions of the board, as established under section 59 of the County Government Act 2012. The Board's mandate includes establishing and abolishing offices in the County Public Service and appointing personnel to hold or act in those offices. The Secretary ensures these mandates are carried out with professional competence and in compliance with the legal framework of Kenya.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates for this position must meet the following criteria:
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Public Service Status: Must not be a state or public officer.
Education: Must possess a first degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of knowledge and working experience in a relevant field.
Professional Certification: Must be a Certified Public Secretary (CPS) in good professional standing.
Integrity: Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on Leadership and Integrity.
Competence: Demonstrate professional competence and managerial capabilities, with an absence of any breach of professional codes of conduct.
Soft Skills: Appreciation for diversity within the county, ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and exhibit strong networking and team-player skills.
Personal Attributes: Demonstrate high levels of flexibility and adaptability.
Tenure and Terms of Service
Tenure: The role is a six (6) year non-renewable contract. The Secretary may serve on a full-time or part-time basis and is not eligible for re-appointment.
Remuneration: Salary and benefits are determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
