About the Commission
The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), also known as the Office of the Ombudsman, is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 59 (4) and Chapter Fifteen of the Constitution, and the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011. The Commission has a mandate to investigate any conduct in state affairs or any act or omission in public administration by any State organ, State officer or public officer.
Role Overview
The Commission is seeking to recruit a Legal Intern for its Mombasa Regional Office. The intern will support the legal and administrative functions of the regional office, gaining hands-on experience in public service and administrative law.
Duties and Responsibilities
Complaint Screening: Screening of complainants to determine the nature of their grievances.
Complaint Handling: Assisting in handling public complaints and the provision of legal advice.
Legal Research: Assisting in conducting legal research on matters relating to administrative justice and other legal matters.
Reporting: Compiling reports and collating data for the preparation of legal briefs.
General Support: Performing any other duties assigned by the Commission from time to time.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
