MoPhones is a mission-driven company providing high-quality renewed devices and integrated financing solutions to Kenyans. We are seeking a Sales & Operations Manager for Partners to build, scale, and optimize our merchant partner network. This role transitions from a foundational setup phase in the first 90 days to an aggressive scaling and leadership phase thereafter.
Role Evolution
First 3 Months: Building Foundations
Audit & Strategy: Conduct a full audit of existing partner relationships to identify top performers, at-risk accounts, and gaps in onboarding or training.
Relationship Management: Establish yourself as the primary contact for merchant partners, resolving outstanding issues and setting clear communication cadences.
Operational Framework: Work with the Director of Operations/Sales to design and roll out a scalable partner onboarding and training framework for sales staff at merchant shops.
Team Assessment: Evaluate junior sales and operations team members and implement training programs.
Beyond 3 Months: Scaling & Optimization
Network Expansion: Aggressively grow the number of active merchant partners across Nairobi and target regions in alignment with MoPhones’ growth goals.
Team Leadership: Recruit and develop a high-performance team of Sales Account Managers responsible for partner operational management.
Process Improvement: Drive cross-departmental initiatives with Credit, Product, and CX teams to streamline partner experience and improve device financing uptake.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
Growth in the number of active merchant partners.
Sales revenue generated through the partner network versus target.
Partner retention rate (partners active after 90 days).
Experience: At least 5 years’ management experience in sales and account management, preferably in telecommunications, retail, or IT.
Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field.
Industry Knowledge: An existing network in the mobile phone merchant industry in Kenya is essential.
Technical Skills: Data-savvy with the ability to build reports, track partner metrics, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite.
Soft Skills: High ownership, proactive follow-through, and an action-oriented mindset. Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
