Role Overview
The Regional Sales Manager for the Upper Central Rift will be responsible for driving BASF’s regional sales, expanding product presence, and increasing market share within the designated region. The role requires a dedicated professional with strong agronomic knowledge and proven sales experience to cultivate relationships with distributors, retailers, and farmers, ensuring all sales targets are delivered throughout the year.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Regional Sales Manager include:
- Grow BASF’s regional sales, product presence and market share.
- Deliver all sales targets across the year.
- Build strong relationships with distributors, retailers, farmers and partners.
- Acquire and develop new customers while strengthening existing accounts.
- Maintain an accurate regional farmer database.
- Manage demonstration trials to generate growth in sales.
- Collaborate with key industry stakeholders, such as the Cereal Growers Association and Potato Council.
- Represent BASF at trade shows, field days and key industry events and support marketing with farmer testimonials.
- Track competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities.
- Visit farmers daily, understanding their needs and requirements and prescribe our solutions to be delivered either directly or via distributors.
- Present technical and product information to customers and internal teams.
- Manage the full route to market process, including distributor credit risk.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Technical, Supply Chain and Finance teams.
Qualifications and Experience (WHAT YOU OFFER)
- Degree in Crop Protection, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field.
- Experience and understanding of the crop protection industry in the Upper Central Rift regions.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing, sales, technical support, and/or business development.
- Proven key account management experience.
- Experience in fieldwork and project management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent organisational ability.
- Self-driven, proactive, and motivated team player.
