The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all-round quality education, keeping abreast of academic developments to shape curriculum content, and conducting impactful research.
Role Purpose
The role involves providing instruction, conducting research, supervising students, and engaging in consultancy. The lecturer will be expected to prepare comprehensive teaching materials, evaluate students through various assessment methods, and contribute to the university's academic reputation through publications and industry collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Keep abreast with developments in the academic discipline and use this knowledge to shape curriculum design and delivery.
Prepare teaching materials, class methodologies, and teaching aids.
Instruct and mentor students.
Conduct both formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.
Approve and moderate examination results as part of the school board.
Research
Conduct research in areas of expertise and publish in peer-reviewed, reputable journals.
Apply for research grants by writing high-quality proposals.
Mentor junior academic staff and promote a research culture.
Disseminate research findings at local and international conferences.
Supervision and Tutorial Support
Supervise undergraduate and graduate students' research projects.
Guide students in identifying research topics and developing proposals.
Internally examine dissertations within the school.
Consultancy
Develop proposals to generate revenue for the university.
Provide advisory services to businesses and government agencies.
Bridge the gap between academic research and practical application through industry collaboration.
Conduct training sessions and workshops for professionals.
Administration
Implement strategic plans through leading academic hubs and committees.
Participate in academic staff recruitment panels and promotion processes.
Contribute to program development, review, and assessment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
Job Specifications
Minimum Academic Qualifications
Doctorate (Ph.D.) in the area of specialization (Wildlife Management or related).
Minimum of three (3) publications in refereed journals.
Experience
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in teaching and research.
