The Pharo Foundation is a privately-funded entrepreneurial organisation that runs philanthropic programmes as well as for-profit social enterprises. The Head of Product and Innovation is a key leadership role responsible for the design, development, and scaling of a coherent educational model across all school levels, including Early Childhood Development (ECD), Pre-Primary, Primary, Senior Secondary, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Key Responsibilities
Educational Model Codification & Coherence
- Codify Pharo Schools’ end-to-end educational model across all levels (ECD to TVET) and post-school programmes.
- Articulate the purpose, learning outcomes, and student experience at each level, ensuring vertical and horizontal coherence.
- Define and document core learning experiences, including academic, co-curricular, and experiential components.
- Ensure the educational model is replicable and scalable across multiple countries and campuses.
STEAM Strategy & Programmes
- Lead the design and development of a coherent STEAM strategy from ECE to Senior Secondary/Advanced Level.
- Develop frameworks, curricula, and progression pathways aligned with the Foundation's mission and international standards.
- Manage strategic partnerships and infrastructure (e.g., makerspaces, digital tools) to strengthen STEAM learning.
- Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes to position Pharo as a leader in STEAM education in Africa.
Curriculum & Pedagogy Design
- Lead the creation and refinement of curricula, scope and sequences, lesson planning templates, and assessment frameworks.
- Define and codify pedagogical practices and instructional approaches for high-quality teaching.
- Develop implementation guides and playbooks to translate curriculum intent into classroom practice.
Character Education & Holistic Development
- Embed character development and values education across all levels of schooling.
- Ensure Pharo Schools’ core values are threaded through curricula and pedagogical practices.
Blended Learning & Innovation
- Research and evaluate hybrid education models relevant to the East African context.
- Integrate technology-enabled learning to enhance quality and expand access.
- Ensure blended learning solutions are pedagogically sound and contextually appropriate.
Training & Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training, onboarding, and continuous professional development on curriculum and pedagogy.
- Build the capacity of school leaders and teachers to deliver the educational model with fidelity.
Quality Assurance & Support
- Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of the educational model.
- Conduct regular school visits and classroom observations to monitor implementation quality.
- Provide actionable feedback to academic leaders and teachers to improve learner outcomes.
- Use data and feedback loops to drive evidence-based iteration and product refinement.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Education, Education Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3–5 years in a school setting.
- Proven track record of improving teaching quality and learning outcomes through supporting school-based leaders.
- Significant experience in curriculum design and local/global assessment practices.
- Strong understanding of the East African education system and regulatory landscape.
- Experience coaching teachers and leading professional development.
- Familiarity with blended learning models and educational technologies.
