Role Overview
Mount Kenya University (MKU), a chartered university committed to holistic education and human resource development, is seeking qualified individuals to join the Department of Private Law as Part-Time Adjunct Faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences, conducting research, and providing administrative support within the School of Law.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Material Preparation: Prepare teaching materials and class methodologies/activities for effective curriculum delivery.
Assessment: Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), set examinations, and manage the moderation and marking process in a timely manner.
Student Supervision: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and thesis supervision.
Research and Publication: Engage in publishing academic papers and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars. Identify research funding sources through grant writing.
Academic Records: Maintain accurate student records, including attendance registers, reports, and assessment achievements within the Academic Management System.
Collaboration: Work with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and contribute to the school's research objectives.
Administrative Duties: Undertake leadership roles in academic programmes, committee memberships, or other management tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following two paths:
Option A:
An earned PhD degree in the relevant area (Private Law) from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Registration by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).
Option B:
A Master’s degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university.
Must be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree qualification.
Registration by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).
Note: Relevant work experience in the industry will be considered an added advantage for both options.
