Senior Lecturer - Medical Surgical Nursing/Critical Care Nursing

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs.
• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research students to completion.
• Participating in curriculum development and review of academic programmes.
• Handling examination preparation, administration, and management.
• Participating in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
• Developing learning materials for student use.
• Conducting community outreach activities.
• Providing academic guidance and counseling to students.
• Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
• Performing any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
• Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow OR six (6) years of relevant research/industry experience.
• Publications: A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervision: Successfully supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion in the capacity of a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
• Professional Registration: Must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body (e.g., Nursing Council of Kenya).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Computer Applications.
• Performance: Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance.

Required Clearances

Shortlisted candidates must present originals of:

• National Identity Card.
• Academic and Professional Certificates and transcripts.
• Clearance from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
• Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
• Clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
• Clearance from any Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
• Police Clearance Certificate (DCI).
• Letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for degrees obtained from foreign universities.
