Job Description
The National Defence University - Kenya (NDU-K) is looking for a Senior Lecturer (Job Grade 5) specializing in Medical Surgical Nursing or Critical Care Nursing. The role involves academic leadership through teaching, research, and curriculum development at the university level.
Duties and Responsibilities
Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs.
Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research students to completion.
Participating in curriculum development and review of academic programmes.
Handling examination preparation, administration, and management.
Participating in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
Developing learning materials for student use.
Conducting community outreach activities.
Providing academic guidance and counseling to students.
Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
Performing any other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow OR six (6) years of relevant research/industry experience.
Publications: A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervision: Successfully supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion in the capacity of a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Professional Registration: Must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body (e.g., Nursing Council of Kenya).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Computer Applications.
Performance: Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
Required Clearances

National Identity Card.
Academic and Professional Certificates and transcripts.
Clearance from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Clearance from any Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Police Clearance Certificate (DCI).
Letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for degrees obtained from foreign universities.
