Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking to recruit Part-Time Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. This role is designed for academic professionals dedicated to high-quality teaching, research, and student mentorship. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering the curriculum, supervising student research, and contributing to the university's academic and research objectives.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through the preparation of teaching materials, class activities, and actual delivery of the curriculum.\n- Ensure all teaching adheres to the requirements specified in the curriculum.\n- Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs), set examinations, and handle marking and moderation in a timely manner.\n- Guide students at both undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and overall supervision.\n- Maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, and assessment achievements in the Academic Management System.\n- Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline to shape curriculum content and delivery methods.\n- Engage in publishing papers and attend professional workshops, conferences, and seminars. Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages.\n- Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the school's research portfolio.\n- Perform administrative duties as required, including leadership of academic programmes or committee membership.\n\n### Qualifications and Requirements\n\n- An earned PhD degree qualification in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.\n- At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience in a university.\n- Registration by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).\n- Industry work experience is an added advantage.\n\n\n\n\n- A Master’s degree qualification in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a relevant area of specialization from a recognized/accredited university.\n- At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university.\n- Must be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree qualification.\n- Registration by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).\n- Industry work experience is an added advantage.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Mount Kenya University recruitment portal at .
