Senior Lecturer - Gender Studies

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs.
• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research.
• Participating in curriculum development and review.
• Conducting examination preparation, administration and management.
• Participating in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
• Developing learning materials.
• Conducting community outreach activities.
• Participating in the development and review of academic programmes.
• Guiding and counselling students.
• Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
• Performing any other related duty assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment

To be considered for this grade, a candidate must have:

• An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
• At least three (3) years teaching / research experience at the university level as a lecturer/Research Fellow or six (6) years research / industry experience.
• A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent of which twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
• Be registered or registrable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
• Proficiency in Computer Applications.
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
