Job Description
Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced Part-Time Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Hospitality Management. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to undergraduate and graduate students, keeping the curriculum current with industry developments, and contributing to the university's research objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Deliver high-quality learning experiences through the preparation of teaching materials, class methodologies, and actual curriculum delivery.
Assessment & Examinations: Ensure timely student assessment through the preparation, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations, including Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs).
Research & Supervision: Guide undergraduate and graduate students in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Knowledge Development: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline or professional practice of the Subject area to shape curriculum content and design.
Records Management: Maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, and assessment achievements in the Academic Management System.
Grant Writing & Publishing: Identify funding sources through grant writing and engage in publishing papers, attending conferences, and participating in professional seminars.
Collaboration: Work with other researchers locally and internationally to establish research linkages.
Administrative Duties: Perform administrative roles when required, such as leadership of academic programs or membership in various committees.
Qualifications and Requirements
Option 1:
An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area (Hospitality Management) from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience in a university setting.
Relevant industry work experience is an added advantage.
Registration by a relevant professional body (where applicable).
Option 2:
A Master’s degree qualification in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized/accredited university.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university.
Registration for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree qualification.
Relevant industry work experience is an added advantage.
Registration by a relevant professional body (where applicable).
