Music Apprentice Teacher (Tatu High Schools)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for students to feel comfortable.
• Plan and execute appropriate activities for the students each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work, and lesson plans.
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for students to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
• Prepare materials, classrooms, and other indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, learning and motor-skill activities, and safety.
• Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide a written report to the Principal through line manager(s) and other school leaders and parents.
• Monitor and keep record/ reports of the student’s progress and development.
• Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Assimilate arriving students to the school environment by greeting them and selecting activities of interest to them.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and policies and procedures to maintain order among students.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Assist in daily routine activities e.g. naptime, bus loading and off-loading, serving and supervising meals, bathroom breaks, play, parent pick-up/drop-off etc.
• Keep, maintain and regularly update professional records- Records of work covered, progress records, rubrics and students portfolios.
• Chaperone after-school clubs of interest or as assigned.
• Participate in character building and behaviour management.

Music Coach Specific Responsibilities

• Administer Music Lessons under the Nova Pioneer Instructional Model in line with CBC requirements.
• Oversee and coordinate Music activities and projects in the school programme.
• Prepare Schemes of Work and design plans for Music lessons.
• Teach individual lessons lasting between 30-45 minutes usually incorporating elements of general musicianship such as ear training and theory as well as instrumental technique and interpretation.
• Liaise with Learning Design & Music Specialists in other NP Primary School campuses for alignment in instruction and learning of Music.
• Set relevant themes for school musical activities and programmes.
• Plan individual lessons and overall Schemes of Work for subscribing students.
• Arrange lesson schedules and enter students for examinations.
• Develop your knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their musical development.
• Communicate with the school and parents about the students’ lessons and progress.
• Prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions and festivals.
• Organise Music events in and outside school and the school annual concert.
• Maintain an inventory of learning resources for Music.
• Coach Teammates who support in Music Lessons.

Requirements

• TSC certification and relevant Degree in Music.
• 3+ years of teaching experience in music.
• Great communicator with clear and effective written and verbal communication.
• Flexible and open to change - handles uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity well.
• Problem solver - proactive in identifying issues and addressing these thoroughly.
• Excited about organizational culture and embracing mutual vulnerability and feedback.
