Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the School of Science and Technology (SST). The role focuses on delivering high-quality education, conducting academic research, and participating in university and community service. The appointee will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels within the field of Applied Mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching: Deliver lectures at undergraduate and graduate levels in specific areas of specialization within Applied Mathematics.
Student Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to students in their academic and career development.
Curriculum Development: Actively participate in the design and review of academic programs to ensure they remain current and competitive.
Assessment: Engage in program assessment and internal reviews to maintain educational standards.
Research Supervision: Supervise student research including projects, theses, and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Scholarly Research: Conduct original research within your area of expertise and contribute to the university's academic output.
Service: Participate in service activities for the University, the academic profession, and the wider community.
General Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean or University leadership.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience
Applicants can qualify through either of the following paths:
Option 1: PhD Entry
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Must be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body.
Option 2: Master's Entry
A Master’s degree in a related area from an accredited university.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching and/or industrial experience in a relevant industry.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines (2014), with at least sixteen (16) points from refereed scholarly journal papers.
Evidence of registration for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification.
Registration with the relevant professional body.
