The Mining Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining strategies to deliver profitable mining and geology services within Embu County. The role involves promoting innovation, ensuring the safety and efficiency of mine operations (both surface and underground), and managing the extraction of mineral resources in an environmentally conscious and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain strategies to deliver profitable mining and geology services within the county.
Promote innovation and the use of leading-edge technology in mining and geological prospects.
Ensure that the mine and its related surface and underground operations remain safe and efficient.
Provide technical knowledge and management skills at all stages of mining, and assess the impact of these structures on the surrounding environment.
Assist miners in developing new technology for the extraction and value-added processing of materials.
Plan, operate, and manage the extraction of valuable rocks/minerals and reclaim mining facilities for both surface and underground deposits.
Forecast mine development in the short, mid, and long term and optimize processes using engineering solutions.
Develop strategies, business plans, and budgets to grow the mining and geology sub-sector into a successful business.
Create technical solutions for mine design, scheduling, costing, and tracking.
Ensure compliance with mining regulations while optimizing economics and managing social and environmental implications.
Requirements
Must be in possession of a Bachelor of Applied Science, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a degree in Environmental Science.
Qualification must be from a university recognized in Kenya.
