The Managing Director at Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company Limited (KACWASCO) provides strategic leadership and guidance to ensure the organization fulfills its mission as a Water Service Provider in Kakamega County. Established under the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Services Act 2021, KACWASCO seeks an executive to manage resources, motivate the workforce, and build strong stakeholder relationships while entrenching a high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan, policies, and operating procedures.
- Ensure the delivery of safe water and sanitation services that satisfy customer and shareholder needs.
- Establish managerial, financial, and operational systems and controls to promote institutional accountability.
- Oversee the performance appraisal systems across all departments.
- Provide strategic direction for new investments, business opportunities, and change initiatives.
- Serve as the primary link between the Board and staff, ensuring Board decisions are implemented and reported timely.
- Mobilize resources for the expansion of water and sanitation infrastructure.
- Cultivate a culture of productivity and promote sound corporate governance and ethical standards.
- Invest company funds in profitable ventures within the water and sewerage sector.
- Improve water purification, distribution, and sewerage treatment standards.
Job Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Human Resource, or Law from a recognized university. A Master's degree in any of these fields is also required.
- Professional Standing: Must be a member in good standing with a relevant professional body.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant management experience, with at least 3 years served at the scale of Chief Manager or a comparable senior position in the Public or Private sector.
- Leadership Training: Must have attended a Strategic Leadership Development or Management Programme lasting at least six (6) weeks in a recognized institution.
- Constitutional Standards: Must meet the requirements of leadership and integrity as set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
- Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
