Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will work under the guidance of a designated supervisor to support the county's mechanical and transport infrastructure through technical design, maintenance, and inspection services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design and Fabrication: Participate in the preparation of designs and drawings for manufacturing mechanical components. Assist in the fabrication of tools, equipment, and components for machines, plants, and vehicles.
Maintenance and Repair: Undertake repair and maintenance tasks for vehicles, plants, and equipment. Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery within workshop environments.
Inspection and Testing: Carry out inspections and testing of vehicles, plants, machines, and equipment to ensure they meet required standards. Conduct tests, valuations, and technical inspections.
Asset Management: Identify vehicles, plants, and mechanical equipment requiring relocation, repair, replacement, overhaul, or disposal. Collect and compile inventory data throughout the equipment life cycle.
Supervision: Supervise examinations and grade/trade tests for drivers and plant operators.
Research and Reporting: Collect and collate data for research purposes. Prepare maintenance and serviceability schedules for vehicles and plant machinery and generate technical reports.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
A Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical & Production Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Registration by the Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK) as a graduate Engineer.
Proficiency in computer applications.
