Role Overview
The Medical Officer In-Charge will be responsible for overseeing clinical activities, managing medical staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services. This role combines clinical practice with administrative leadership to maintain clinical governance and operational excellence within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee clinical operations and ensure compliance with medical standards.
Manage and mentor medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
Coordinate emergency response and complex patient care.
Implement and maintain clinical governance and quality assurance protocols.
Supervise the use of hospital information systems and electronic records.
Manage a wide range of medical conditions in a general practice setting.
Key Competencies
Proficiency in general medical practice with ability to manage a wide range of conditions.
Strong leadership and team management skills with proven mentorship experience.
Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, clinical governance, and hospital operations.
Capacity to manage emergencies and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
Competence in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and hospital information systems.
High ethical standards, integrity, and patient-centred approach.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Minimum 5 years’ post-internship experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Registration and valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
