The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the safe and economic operation and maintenance of the power plant during designated shifts. This role involves assisting in start-up, shut-down, and normal operations, maintaining clear logs, and taking corrective actions during system disturbances. The technician ensures the plant remains in a clean and safe condition and performs emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment. Key tasks include diagnosing faults, ensuring timely repairs with minimal downtime, and supporting the planning of new projects and installations.
Key Deliverables
Assist in start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of the power plant systems.
Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.
Take corrective action during system operational disturbances and/or bring such disturbances to the attention of the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
Effectively communicate the condition of plant equipment and performance to shift charge and fellow personnel.
Maintain the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure.
Diagnose faults and ensure timely repairs of factory machines and equipment with minimal or no downtime.
Support the planning of new projects and installations.
Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories to maximize useful operating life.
Perform planned, corrective, emergency, and preventive maintenance as directed.
Account for all parts, materials, supplies, and fluids used during maintenance work.
Develop and maintain tools, test fixtures, and documentation.
Ensure 100% adherence to OSHA requirements and safety regulations, including isolation, lock out, and tag out (LOTO).
Essential Qualities (Requirements)
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
At least 2 years’ experience in operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.
OSHA certification.
Lube oil training certification.
Firefighting and first aid certification.
Fire marshal certification.
