Job Description
The Lecturer in Machine Learning and Big Data/ Data Science at USIU-Africa is responsible for teaching, conducting research, and engaging in service performance. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Science and Technology (SST), the successful candidate will play a key role in student mentorship and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities
Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in Machine Learning, Big Data, and Data Science.
Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure programs remain up-to-date and marketable.
Participate in program assessment and reviews.
Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Engage in research within the area of expertise.
Provide service to the University, the profession, and the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following sets of criteria:
Option 1 (PhD Path):
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Registered or registerable with the relevant professional body.
Option 2 (Master's Path):
A Master’s degree in related areas from an accredited university.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching and/or industrial experience in the relevant industry.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as per CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014 (at least 16 points must be from refereed scholarly journal papers).
Currently registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification.
Registered with the relevant professional body.
