Role Overview
As an IT Associate (NPPSA-6) at UN Women, you will be responsible for implementing IT strategies and new technologies in accordance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines, and procedures. This role involves maintaining hardware and software, ensuring efficient network administration, and providing technical support to staff across various offices. You will also play a key role in knowledge building and sharing within the organization to improve business results and client services.
Key Responsibilities
Implement IT Strategies and New Technologies
Provide inputs to the development and review of internal ICT policies and procedures.
Draft the ICT annual work plan for the office.
Support the use of Cloud-based ERP functionality for improved business results.
Hardware and Software Management
Install, operate, and maintain all Regional Office hardware equipment.
Advise on the acquisition of hardware supplies and perform routine repairs or component changes.
Plan, install, and maintain communication systems, including mobile and satellite phones.
Install commercial and in-house developed software, upgrades, and anti-virus programs.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all software and hardware assets.
Network Administration
Monitor network connections daily to ensure a stable and responsive environment.
Configure network printers and provide user access as required.
Troubleshoot and monitor network problems, responding to user needs regarding access.
Liaise with UNON and other agencies or vendors to manage the Local Area Network (LAN).
Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes, including backup and restoration procedures.
Administrative and Technical Support
Provide technical support in the procurement of new ICT equipment, including technical specifications and review of bids.
Maintain inventory of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit.
Process IT equipment registration in the Quantum Asset Module and support physical inventory verification.
Diagnose, evaluate, and prioritize requests for assistance from staff regarding hardware, software, and networking issues.
Manage ICT on-boarding requirements for new personnel.
Knowledge Building and Sharing
Identify systems and applications for optimal content and knowledge management.
Contribute to organizing trainings for staff on ICT issues and synthesize lessons learned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Completion of secondary education is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is an asset.
Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Analyst (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or equivalent are required. (Note: If certification is not available at the time of recruitment, it should be obtained within 6 months).
Experience: At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in network administration and use of hardware/software/telecommunications facilities.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, web-based management systems, and spreadsheet/database packages. Experience with modern web-based ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) is desirable.
