Job Description
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency for human settlements, mandated to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. The Urban Economy Branch is seeking an intern to support instructional design and communication efforts.
Role Overview
Depending on the intern's profile and initial discussions, duties will focus on instructional design for learning platforms, graphic design for various media, and supporting communication and advocacy campaigns.
Responsibilities
Instructional Design and Learning Management System (LMS) Support
Assist in designing learning experiences, including e-learning courses and webinars.
Support content implementation within Moodle and/or Articulate Rise/Storyline.
Support the management and upgrade of the UN-Habitat Learn platform.
Graphic Design and Video Production
Support the development of graphic design products (presentation/report templates, infographics, webinar banners).
Assist in planning, reviewing, and coordinating the production of Global Urban Lecture videos.
Help record and edit live videos, or design and edit animated videos.
Communication and Advocacy
Support internal communication of the section’s activities and innovative products.
Organize helpdesk resources and promote brownbag sessions.
Support external communication via newsletters, social media, and web pages.
Assist in the planning and rollout of communication campaigns.
Project Assistance
Support the development, planning, tracking, and reporting of project activities.
Assist in stakeholder coordination, including scheduling meetings and preparing agendas/minutes.
Organize project documentation, plans, and reports.
Collaborative Work
Work with team members on other assignments as necessary to support the implementation of the unit’s work programme.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor's level or equivalent).
Have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree.
Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations.
Have the ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Preferred Areas of Study:
Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Design, Design Thinking, Instructional Design, Communication, Media Studies, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or Digital Media.
Highly Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of Canva, Moodle, and Articulate Rise.
