Job Description
Mount Kenya University is seeking to recruit three (3) Full Time Trainers for the Department of Nursing at the Equip Africa Institute - Kitale Centre. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and training to nursing students, ensuring they meet the required academic and professional standards. The role involves curriculum delivery, student assessment, and maintaining professional standards as required by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned units as outlined in the course curriculum and curriculum guides.
Professional Records: Develop learning materials and ensure timely preparation and submission of professional records, including schemes of work and lesson plans.
Student Monitoring: Maintain accurate records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Individualized Learning: Plan, develop, and deliver appropriate learning plans tailored to individual student needs.
Assessment and Grading: Assess students' work, monitor their achievement, and conduct marking of Continuous Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts) and end-of-term assessments.
Data Management: Ensure timely uploading of marks into the Management Information System (MIS) for all assigned units.
Practical Instruction: Conduct practical training sessions for trainees and maintain their portfolios of evidence.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments and practical exercises.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum components.
Course Review: Participate in the course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet evolving student needs.
Departmental Engagement: Participate in departmental meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Background: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Professional Certification: Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid registration from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in training or teaching within a similar medical training institution.
