British American Tobacco (BAT) is seeking a Financial Manager to provide strategic financial oversight for its Agri-business operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of company plan commitments, managing leaf-related costs, and maintaining a robust control environment. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance professional with a strong background in FMCG or agri-business, capable of driving productivity and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Management: Deliver Agri-business company plan commitments and provide timely, accurate financial management information regarding Leaf operations. This includes ensuring forecast accuracy for costs (including blends) and managing working capital.
Analysis and Reporting: Perform cause-of-change analysis for any variances and proactively manage and report losses, providing early warnings for potential financial risks.
Productivity Improvement: Challenge the status quo on potential productivity savings and participate in loss analysis and idea generation forums.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the appropriate treatment of import duties, levies, and costs relating to leaf. Implement processes to meet trade bloc threshold compliance and support site accreditation agendas.
Audit and Controls: Liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and adherence to regulatory requirements. Drive the control environment on asset and inventory management while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Cashflow Management: Oversee accurate cashflow and working capital management for Leaf-related inputs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Shared Service Teams on cost roll-up forecasts and engage with external stakeholders to gain insights that support business interests.
Culture and Leadership: Contribute to shaping BAT’s inclusive culture by demonstrating appropriate behaviors and developing leadership skills for career advancement.
Qualifications and Experience
A relevant university degree (BA/BSc/HND).
Professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA or CPA.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance or auditing.
Prior experience in an FMCG or agri-business environment is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of SAP is considered an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
