Collection Executive

Role Overview

The Collection Executive is responsible for managing and recovering outstanding debts from customers. The role involves consistent follow-up with overdue accounts via phone, field visits, and formal notices to ensure timely payments and reduce delinquency levels for assigned accounts. The executive will also be tasked with customer reconciliation and resolving discrepancies related to short payments.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow-up with overdue customers over the phone, serving notices, and conducting field visits where necessary.
• Organize debtor lists according to the severity of delinquency and ensure all clients are contacted.
• Notify the reporting manager regarding difficult or high-risk accounts.
• Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts and create daily reports of customers who have not made payments.
• Record new commitments to repay debt and evaluate whether debts can be collected, recommending recovery actions accordingly.
• Accountable for reducing delinquency rates within assigned accounts.
• Perform tasks to support the Accounts Receivable Department, including customer calls and account adjustments.
• Provide customer service regarding collection issues and resolve client discrepancies or short payments.
• Conduct customer reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Significant Collection and Credit exposure is mandatory.
• Between 8-10 years of professional experience in debt collection and credit management.
• Experience within a retail finance environment is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective relationship building.
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
• Educational background: Commerce or Finance Graduate (BA/BSc/HND).
