Kempinski Hotels S.A., Europe's oldest luxury hotel group, is seeking an Engineering Trainee to join their team in Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, the trainee will gain comprehensive hands-on experience in maintaining the technical standards of a luxury hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure mechanical technicians adhere to set working hours and observe quality workmanship.
Submit FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) requirements to the Plant room/supervisor or Chief Engineer.
Implement quick and permanent solutions to technical issues to prevent re-occurrences.
Perform periodic preventive maintenance for machines and equipment, including daily checks for Laundry and Kitchen equipment.
Plan and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize interference with normal hotel operations.
Advise the storekeeper on required inventory items and ensure the quality of delivered materials.
Maintain a working knowledge of Department Brand Standards, HVAC, Electrical, and MEP Installations.
Adhere strictly to HACCP and COSHH policies.
Record daily electrical meter readings and submit them for the preparation of daily utility reports.
Ensure all hazardous installations are isolated and appropriate warning signs are in place.
Carry out minor electrical installations, repairs, and service of electrical equipment.
Facilitate guest room and property maintenance.
Manage the treatment of boilers and swimming pool water, keeping accurate records of water conditions.
Monitor the effects of servicing and maintenance of plant equipment.
Receive and record fuel (AGO & LPG) deliveries.
Prepare daily utility consumption reports and monitor the premises for fuel, gas, water, or steam leaks.
Requirements & Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in an Engineering course from a recognized learning institution.
No prior work experience is required.
Recent graduate (completed coursework in 2025 or 2026).
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multinational environment.
Excellent grooming skills and professional etiquette.
Outgoing personality with a positive learning attitude.
