This is the entry grade for teachers with a Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE). A teacher at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior teacher for the purposes of professional mentoring and growth. The role involves instructional delivery, classroom management, and the holistic development of young learners within the County.
Basic Salary
Kshs. 23,700 - 31,450 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teach learners and guide them to prepare and develop play and learning materials.
Mentorship: Serve as a role model, guide, counsel, mentor, and motivator for learners.
Holistic Development: Care for and nurture the spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic, and emotional growth of the learners.
Activity Facilitation: Design, organize, and facilitate age-appropriate play and learning activities.
Classroom Management: Manage ECDE classes and keep professional and administrative records, including schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programmes of activities, attendance registers, and health records.
Reporting: Prepare necessary reports regarding learner progress and activities.
Safety and Security: Assure the safety and security of learners while in the learning environment.
Talent Identification: Identify and nurture unique talents in learners.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at O’ Level.
Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) offered by KNEC or Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent.
Proficiency in the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and other emerging learning trends.
Registration by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Certificate in Computer Applications.
