This is the entry grade for teachers with a Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE). A teacher at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior teacher for the purposes of professional mentoring and growth. The role involves facilitating the holistic growth of learners across spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic, and emotional dimensions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach learners and act as a role model, guide, and counselor.
Mentor and motivate learners to achieve their potential.
Prepare progress reports and maintain professional records including schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programmes, attendance registers, and health records.
Assure the safety and security of all learners.
Design, organize, and facilitate engaging play and learning activities.
Prepare and develop relevant play and learning materials and guide learners in doing the same.
Identify and nurture unique talents in learners.
Manage ECDE classes effectively.
Requirements for Appointment
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at O’ Level.
Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) offered by KNEC or Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent.
Conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and other emerging learning trends.
Registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Certificate in Computer Applications.
Compensation and Terms
Basic Salary: Kshs. 23,700 - 31,450 p.m.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
