Human Asset Consultants Ltd is seeking a Director for Internal Audit and Risk Management. This is a senior leadership position responsible for providing oversight to the internal audit and risk management directorate. The role entails offering strategic advisory services to the Board of Management, ensuring that the organization's audit and risk practices align with global best practices and technological advancements. The Director will provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes, and risk mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Governance: Provide leadership to the Internal Audit and Risk Management staff and serve as the Secretary to the Board Audit Committee.
- Advisory Services: Participate in Board of management meetings and offer advisory services on strategic matters and plan implementation.
- Liaison: Act as the primary contact for external auditors and independent consultants regarding audit progress.
- Standards and Policy: Formulate and coordinate the implementation of internal audit and risk management strategies, policies, and methodologies. Ensure practices comply with best practices and technological advancements.
- Operational Oversight: Work with functional heads to ensure the implementation and closure of audit recommendations.
- Assurance and Compliance: Provide assurance on the efficiency, effectiveness, and adequacy of internal controls. Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and procedures affecting company operations.
- Integrity and Ethics: Spearhead and coordinate integrity and ethics activities under the guidance of the Managing Director.
- Staff Development: Coach, mentor, and develop staff using relevant human resource tools.
- Budgeting: Prepare, implement, and monitor the Directorate budget and procurement plans.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Economics, ICT, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent qualification.
- Professional Certification: Must possess CPA (K), CIA, CISA, CCA, CMA, or CFE.
- Professional Membership: Member of ICPAK, IIA, ACCA, ACFE, ICMA, or ISACA.
- Leadership Training: Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) from Kenya School of Government or its equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience, with at least five (5) years in senior management. Experience in Public Sector Management is required.
- Competencies: Demonstrated high performance and leadership in previous roles.
