County Chief Officer- Livestock Development

Role Overview

The Taita Taveta County Public Service Board is seeking a County Chief Officer for Livestock Development. This senior managerial role involves overseeing the livestock department, implementing policies, and aligning activities with the County Integrated Development Plan and Vision 2030 goals. The position is offered on a two-year contract basis with remuneration provided according to SRC guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Formulate and implement county livestock development strategies and plans.
• Oversee the administration and management of the department to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Coordinate livestock-related programs including animal health, production, and marketing.
• Manage departmental budgets and ensure prudent financial management.
• Foster public-private partnerships within the livestock sector.
• Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
• Promote and uphold the values and principles of public service as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
• Work effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlines and organizational targets.

Requirements for Appointment

• Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
• Holder of at least a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya; a Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Job Group 'R' within the Public Service or not less than ten (10) years at a Senior Managerial level in a large organization.
• Proven knowledge, experience, and a distinguished career in the livestock sector.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of County development objectives and Vision 2030 plans.
• Be a strategic thinker, proactive, and results-oriented.
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution (Integrity).
• Proof of registration with a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
• Capacity to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with respect for diversity.
