Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), established in the early 1900s to serve the health needs of workers in Kisumu, now operates as a key referral hospital for numerous counties. JOOTRH is currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join the team on a Contract basis.

This role involves preparing and serving meals within the hospital kitchen environment, ensuring strict adherence to high standards of hygiene, nutrition, and food safety for patients and staff.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in Food Production, Food and Beverage Production, Pastry and Bakery, or a related qualification from a recognized institution.
• Valid Food Handler’s Certificate.

Experience and Skills:

• Knowledge of nutrition, food hygiene, and safety standards is essential.
• Physically fit and able to work long hours, including shifts.
• At least one (1) year experience in a hospital, hotel, or institutional kitchen will be considered an added advantage.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications is an added advantage.
