The Claims Officer - Motor Claims is responsible for the end-to-end management of motor insurance claims. This role involves guiding policyholders through the claims process, assessing liability, and ensuring fair settlements. The officer works closely with service providers, loss adjusters, and legal professionals to minimize costs and detect fraud while maintaining excellent customer service and adherence to industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Advisory and Processing: Provide advice on making claims and handle new notifications efficiently.
Documentation and Analysis: Collect accurate information and documents to analyze claims and determine liability.
Provider Management: Coordinate with approved service providers, such as garages and professionals, for property repairs.
Claim Monitoring: Track claim progress and ensure all actions comply with company quality standards and industry regulations.
Fraud Detection: Investigate potentially fraudulent claims and identify reasons for non-payment or partial settlement.
Settlement and Customer Service: Ensure fair settlement of valid claims and handle complaints associated with claims to ensure high satisfaction.
Legal and Recoveries: Initiate legal recovery of paid-out funds and collaborate with loss adjusters and solicitors.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers and legal/claims professionals.
Operations: Ensure premiums are settled prior to claim processing and liaise with the underwriting department for policy terms.
Data Management: Enter accurate claims data into the system and maintain comprehensive records for auditing and enquiries.
Staff Support: Assist and train new staff on work procedures and company policies.
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Professional Qualifications
ACII (Advanced Diploma in Insurance) or AIIK (Insurance Institute of Kenya).
Experience
At least 4 years of relevant experience specifically in Insurance claims.
