The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit five (5) Cadet Officers to join the Agricultural Office. The NYS serves as a premier agency for youth empowerment in Kenya, and these roles are permanent and pensionable. Successful candidates will lead agricultural initiatives and must undergo mandatory paramilitary training.
Key Responsibilities
Manage agricultural operations and projects across various NYS units.
Oversee crop production, agricultural economics, and irrigation engineering tasks.
Provide technical expertise in the implementation of the government's youth empowerment master plan through agricultural activities.
Maintain discipline and leadership as a commissioned officer within the service.
General Requirements
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Age between 18 and 28 years.
Must possess a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Have no criminal record.
Must be medically fit.
Successful candidates MUST undergo NYS Paramilitary training for nine (9) months at NYS Training College.
Possess a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Specifically, a Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture, Crop Production, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Salary and Benefits
Salary and Allowances: As existing in the NYS salary Scale.
Medical Cover: SHA Scheme of Civil Servants.
Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable.
