The Business Development Officer will report to the Branch Manager and is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the general insurance portfolio. The role focuses on supporting branch sales, fostering strong partner relationships, and ensuring compliance and market insight to provide a superior customer experience across all touchpoints.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\n#### Branch Support\n* Assist the branch in growing the general insurance portfolio by supporting sales, timely quotation issuance, and pipeline management.\n* Support product training and capacity building to enhance sales and service delivery.\n\n#### Partnership & Relationship Management\n* Build and maintain professional relationships with partners and intermediaries.\n* Support partner general insurance products to improve sales performance and ensure compliance with company policies.\n* Conduct partner engagement activities to enhance distribution, client acquisition, and retention.\n* Conduct regular training for intermediaries and retail segment clients to increase understanding and uptake of the company’s products.\n* Manage agreements with channel partners and ensure consistent compliance.\n\n#### Market & Channel Intelligence\n* Gather insights on business trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.\n* Recommend strategic initiatives to improve penetration, engagement, and profitability across channels.\n\n#### Customer Experience\n* Ensure high-quality client engagement and address customer issues in coordination with internal teams.\n* Provide top-notch customer experience to all business partners across the retail channel.\n\n#### Reports & Compliance\n* Maintain 100% adherence to compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements through proper contracting, licensing of intermediaries, and premium collection.\n* Prepare and present regular reports on pipelines, conversions, initiatives, and tendering activities.\n\n### Requirements\n* Bachelor’s degree in insurance or in a related field.\n* Relevant professional qualification in Insurance (e.g., ACII, AIIK).\n* Two (2) years of relevant working experience.\n* Additional qualifications in sales and marketing would be an added advantage.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Absa Bank career portal:
