The Branch Manager is responsible for developing, growing, and monitoring Branch liability and asset portfolios with the aim of ensuring that the branch remains profitable and competitive while promptly reacting to changes in both the internal and external environment. The role involves contributing to the strategic direction of Branch Business, ensuring that the Bank’s objectives for Retail banking are met through the development and execution of effective branch strategies.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management: Develop, grow and monitor Branch liability and asset portfolios to ensure profitability and competitiveness.
Strategic Direction: Contribute to and take a proactive role in the strategic direction of Branch Business, ensuring bank objectives are met.
Operational Excellence: Oversee overall management of the branch to ensure superior service offering, reduction of operating costs, and efficient utilization of bank resources.
Governance and Risk: Reduce fraud and losses through implementation of first-class corporate governance and adherence to set policies and procedures.
Customer Care: Monitor and manage customer complaints, constantly review service delivery standards, and position staff to maintain high service standards.
Financial Planning: Forecast, plan, implement and monitor all branch sales, cost, and expenditure activities within set budgets and device remedial actions for variances.
Team Leadership: Organize and manage human and physical resources; coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team using the performance management framework.
Liaison: Coordinate branch activities and liaise with Regional office and other Head office Units for branch requirements.
Risk Management: Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Credit policy prudential guidelines, Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: A University Degree from a recognized institution in any field is required. A Master's Degree is an added advantage.
Banking Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in General Banking, with at least 6 years spent as a Branch Manager in a Bank.
Functional Skills: Experience in Sales, Personal/Business/or Retail Banking, as well as Credit Analysis and administration.
Operational Knowledge: Experience in Bank operations covering Cash Management, Clearing, Accounts, and Administration.
Performance: Demonstrated consistent high performance in roles held in the last three years.
Industry Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Retail Banking products and services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations.
Management: Strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing high performance management, planning, and organization.
