Job Description
The County Government of Kakamega is seeking to recruit an Assistant Polytechnic Instructor III specializing in Motor Vehicle Mechanics. This is the entry grade for the County Polytechnic Instructors cadre. Instructors at this level will work under the guidance of a County Polytechnic Principal to deliver technical training and ensure the holistic development of trainees.
Responsibilities
Instruct in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus.
Prepare and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning materials, and trainee records.
Carry out trainee assessment in class and during industrial attachments.
Coordinate the storage, care, maintenance, and proper usage of teaching and learning materials, tools, and equipment.
Conduct co-curricular activities for trainees.
Maintain trainee discipline through guiding and counseling.
For direct appointment to this grade, an instructor must have:
A Diploma in Automotive Engineering (or other relevant technical disciplines including Building and Construction, Clothing or Fashion Design and Textile Technology, Food Technology or Food and Beverage Management, Agribusiness, and Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy).
A Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery is an added advantage for candidates with a Diploma in Building and Construction.
Training in Pedagogical Skills.
Registration by the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
