Stratostaff is seeking an Assistant Laboratory Technician to support the laboratory team in conducting technical analyses and managing laboratory operations. This role is central to ensuring that samples are collected, analyzed, and managed according to strict quality and safety standards, particularly for parameters such as flashpoint, water content, and viscosity.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Management: Draw samples at appropriate stages to meet the requirements of relevant stakeholders. Clearly label and seal samples, particularly those retained for reference.
Preparation: Prepare sample containers prior to collection and analysis. Prepare laboratory reagents required for analysis.
Analysis: Deliver samples for laboratory analysis and ensure proper logging. Analyze samples using appropriate techniques and instruments for specified parameters such as flashpoint, water content, density, moisture, kinematic viscosity, and distillation tests.
Laboratory Maintenance: Coordinate servicing, repairs, and calibration of laboratory instruments. Requisition laboratory reagents, equipment, apparatus, and tools required for smooth operations.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste, reagents, and samples in accordance with safety standards. Ensure laboratory safety procedures and standards are strictly followed.
Reporting: Provide timely and accurate reports on laboratory analysis. Maintain accurate records of all items and samples received in the laboratory.
External Coordination: Liaise with external laboratories where additional analysis is required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience: 1–2 years’ experience in laboratory analysis or related work.
Additional Knowledge: Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices will be an added advantage.
