About the Role
The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen (male and female). This role is designed for young Kenyans to discover and develop their potential through paramilitary training and national service. Successful candidates will be prepared to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya after completing their training.
Responsibilities and Training
Successful candidates will undergo Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha.
After training, recruits will be required to offer voluntary service to the nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya as directed.
Participants will engage in national development projects, community service, and various youth empowerment programs.
Requirements for Recruitment
Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:
Citizenship: Be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documentation: Produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates, and submit one set of photocopies at the recruitment center.
Clearance: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Fitness: Be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise and be prepared for rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training.
Availability: Be ready to offer voluntary service in any part of the Republic of Kenya.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid documentary proof, such as parents’ death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): PWDs are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
The recruitment exercise will take place from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily. Applicants should report to recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties with their original ID, KCSE certificates, and Police Clearance certificate.
