
National Youth Service
The National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen. This role involves joining a premier government agency dedicated to youth empowerment and national service. Successful candidates will undergo intensive paramilitary training and will be prepared to offer voluntary service in any part of Kenya.\n\n### Role Overview and Responsibilities\n- Participate in Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha.\n- Be prepared to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya as assigned.\n- Support national development projects and community service initiatives.\n- Adhere to the strict disciplinary standards and protocols of the National Youth Service.\n\n### Requirements for Recruitment\n- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.\n- Age must be between 18 and 24 years.\n- Minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).\n- Must produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates at the recruitment center (along with one set of photocopies).\n- A valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct) is required.\n- Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment process.\n- Must be prepared for rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training.\n- Readiness to offer voluntary service to the nation.\n\n### Special Considerations and Advantages\n- Applicants who are orphans and meet all requirements will receive special consideration upon presenting valid proof such as death certificates or burial permits.\n- PWDs are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.\n- Demonstrated sports skills and other talents will be considered an added advantage.\n\n### How to Apply\nThe recruitment exercise will take place at various Sub-County centers from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
