Job Description
The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for NYS volunteers (male and female) throughout the Republic from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026. This recruitment aims to engage young Kenyans in a comprehensive youth empowerment program. Successful candidates will undergo Basic Paramilitary Training and be ready to offer voluntary service to the nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya. Training will take place at the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha.
Responsibilities
Undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training.
Offer voluntary service to the nation in various sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, and environmental conservation.
Adhere to the strict disciplinary code of the National Youth Service.
Be prepared for deployment to any part of the Republic of Kenya to serve the community and state.
Participate in youth empowerment programs and technical training as assigned.
Requirements
Citizenship: Be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documentation: Produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates and submit one set of photocopies at the recruitment center.
Character: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Training: Be prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training and offer voluntary service.
Additional Considerations
Orphans: Those who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid documentary proof (e.g., parents’ death certificates).
Persons with Disabilities: Encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
Integrity: NYS does not condone corruption. Canvassing or offering monetary inducements is an offense.
