Role Overview
Christian Blind Mission (CBM) Kenya is looking for a Programme Officer to manage the lifecycle of various development projects. The role involves overseeing project design, implementation, and evaluation while ensuring alignment with both organizational and donor standards. This position is central to partner management, capacity building, and financial oversight within the NGO sector.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development and Onboarding
Lead the development of project ideas, designs, concept notes, log frames, and proposal narratives.
Identify and assess potential partners in collaboration with the Country Director and fundraising teams.
Facilitate partner onboarding through kick-off workshops and training on donor-specific tools and processes.
Partner Capacity Building
Conduct programmatic capacity-building sessions and trainings for partners.
Support bi-annual and annual review meetings and mentor partner staff in financial management and compliance.
Project Coordination and Quality Assurance
Manage project timelines and activities, ensuring implementation meets agreed-upon standards.
Process budget or activity change requests and analyze deviations.
Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
Conduct regular remote or on-site monitoring visits and develop comprehensive monitoring reports.
Manage evaluations, capture lessons learned, and disseminate best practices internal and external to the organization.
Reporting, Audit, and Compliance
Review and finalize programmatic and financial reports.
Monitor expenditure trends, cash forecasts, and fund requests to ensure liquidity and budget adherence.
Ensure full compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements, following up on audit recommendations.
Project Administration
Maintain project data within ERP systems (PROMIS/NGO Online), handling forecasting and budget adjustments.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, International Development, or a related field.
Experience: Prior experience in project management within the I/NGO sector is required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management tools (iPCM, Log frame), financial analysis, and budget forecasting.
Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
