The role of the Team Leader is to supervise and lead a team of 5 Data Collection Officers (DCOs) in conducting daily field data collection activities in Mombasa County. The primary goal is to ensure the team achieves ambitious daily targets while maintaining high standards of data quality and professional conduct in the field. The Team Leader acts as the first line of support, managing logistics, providing training, and reporting progress regularly to the Zone Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 5 DCOs in daily data collection activities.
- Ensure the team achieves the daily target of 400 records (80 per DCO).
- Assign specific areas within zones to each DCO for systematic coverage.
- Conduct first-level quality checks on team submissions before upload.
- Provide on-the-spot training and guidance to DCOs.
- Manage team equipment (smartphones, power banks, supplies).
- Report team progress to the Zone Supervisor every 2 hours.
- Resolve minor field issues and escalate complex problems.
- Ensure the team maintains professional conduct with business owners.
- Participate actively in data collection (lead by example).
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in any field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in field data collection or surveys.
- Previous team leadership experience (formal or informal).
- Good knowledge of Mombasa County geography.
- Proficiency with smartphones and mobile applications.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
