Role Overview
An officer at this level will assist in taking charge of social welfare duties within the Narok Municipality. The role involves supporting individuals and the community through professional counseling, needs assessment, and the implementation of social support programs. The Social Welfare Officer II acts as a vital link between vulnerable individuals, their families, and rehabilitation services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in taking charge of social welfare duties in the Municipality.
Provide counseling services to individuals and families.
Assess client needs to provide appropriate social and psychological support.
Build and maintain trust-based relationships with clients.
Create and implement treatment plans, then monitor and evaluate client progress.
Act as a link between patients undergoing rehabilitation and their relatives, and handle various social problems.
Develop and deliver specialized social programs and services.
Mobilize the community to raise awareness about pandemic diseases, drug and substance abuse.
Intervene during crises occasioned by natural disasters.
Perform any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor of Arts Degree in any of the following disciplines: Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Mental Health, Counseling or other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certificate of membership to a professional body from a recognized institution where applicable.
Certificate in Computer applications.
Remuneration
Salary Scale (CPSB 10): Ksh. 34,420 - Ksh. 46,120 per month plus other benefits.
