Job Description
Technical University of Mombasa is offering an internship opportunity within its School of Medicine. This six-month program is specifically designed for unemployed Kenyan graduates from tertiary institutes or universities to gain hands-on experience in medical laboratory and mortuary services.
Role Overview
The intern will be integrated into the School of Medicine's operations, focusing on laboratory functions and mortuary service management. The position requires a dedicated individual who can adhere to strict confidentiality and safety protocols while assisting in the daily activities of the department.
Responsibilities
Assist in mortuary operations and ensure the proper handling of biological specimens.
Support medical laboratory functions in accordance with established standards.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety within the facility.
Adhere to all confidentiality and ethical guidelines regarding patient and facility data.
Assist senior staff in specialized procedures and educational activities within the school.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Must hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a related field.
Specialized Training: Completion of a recognized course in Mortuary Service is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of practical experience working in a mortuary setting.
Eligibility: Must be an unemployed Kenyan Graduate from a Tertiary Institute or University.
Documentation: Must possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Insurance: The successful candidate must have a personal accident insurance cover and a Medical Insurance Cover by SHIF.
Logistics: The intern is responsible for their own residential accommodation and transport to the university.
Commitment: Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement before admission to the program.
Additional Terms
Contract Duration: Six (6) months.
Monthly Stipend: KES 20,000 for Diploma holders.
